The University Pro-Independence Federation of Puerto Rico (commonly known by its Spanish acronym "FUPI": "Federación Universitaria Pro-Independencia", originally "Federación de Universitarios Pro-Independencia") is an organization of students primarily studying at the University of Puerto Rico (UPR) founded in October 1956, by Puerto Rican poet and nationalist Hugo Margenat. The organization's main principles are Puerto Rican independence, socialism, and a reformation of the Puerto Rican university system.
